How to Install a Digital Antenna

If you don't have a cable or satellite television service installed in your home, you're going to need a digital antenna in order to pick up over-the-air programming. These antennas can be purchased at any major electronics retailer, like Best Buy or Staples. They can also be purchased online at vendors like Amazon.com or Overstock.com. Once you get your antenna home and out of the box, the actual installation process takes only a few seconds.

Things You'll Need
•TV

•Digital Antenna

Instructions

1.Plug the power cable that runs off of your digital antenna into a wall outlet (if applicable). Certain digital antennas will require their own power source to operate, and if yours is that type of model, plug it into a standard wall outlet or surge protector.

2.Screw the coaxial cable that runs off of your digital antenna into the coaxial input on the back of your television set. The coaxial input on the back of the TV allows the antenna to plug directly into the TV tuner. The antenna picks up over the air signals which are then passed along to the TV tuner.

3.Press the "Menu" button on your TV's remote control. Enter the "Channel Settings" sub menu and select "Scan." This will tell the TV to scan every channel for signs of programming. This must be done before your TV will begin to display content being picked up by the antenna.

4.Set your digital antenna as high as you can in your room for the best results. Make sure no large objects are obstructing the antenna in any way. Once you do this, your digital antenna is completely installed and you can enjoy your television.
