How to Program Yaesu Ham Radios

Date:2014/12/25 11:45:28 Hits:
Yaesu ham radios can be programmed with frequencies, offsets, codes and tones, enabling one-touch selection of the data needed to use the radio. This data is stored in memory channels, and Yaesu ham radios have multiple channels available that can be programmed. If you know your desired frequency, repeater shift direction, CTCSS/DCS tone and power level, program your Yaesu ham radio.

Instructions

1.Choose the frequency that you want to store in memory by rotating the dial or directly entering the frequency in the keypad.

2.Enter any ancillary information needed for the repeater. For example, if your repeater requires CTCSS to activate it, select the "Tone Mode," then the "Tone Frequency." Press and hold the "MHz Set" key for a second, then turn the knob to the "28 SQ TYP" (Tone Mode) setting. Press the "MHz Set" key again and turn the dial so "T ENC" appears on the display. Further turns of the dial elicit "TSQ" (Tone Squelch) and more. Choose the one you need.

3.Press "MHz Set" again and rotate the dial to "27 SQ TNF" (Tone Frequency). Press "MHz Set" again and change the Tone Frequency to the one you need. Save the settings by pressing "MHz Set" again. Add any further customization by rotating the dial to the required custom function and following the same process.

4.Press and hold the "D/MR/MW" key for a second and use the dial knob to choose the channel number you want to program with the data set from the previous step. Press "D/MR/MW" again to store the programming into that channel.
