How to Hook Up an Amplified HDTV Antenna to a TV
Date:2014/10/30 15:36:37 Hits:
An amplified high-definition television antenna contains an internal, powered booster that improves channel reception. The antennas are capable of receiving both standard digital channels and high-definition ones. Amplified HDTV antennas include VHF dipoles and a UHF loop for picking up channels on both television bands, and controls for adjusting a channel's clarity. The antennas work on both digital and non-digital televisions. Connecting an amplified HDTV antenna to your television is done via a single coaxial cable. Have a question? Get an answer from online tech support now!Instructions
Connecting to a Digital Television
1.Locate the antenna's coaxial connection cable coming from the back of the device, if using an indoor antenna, or from the window or other area the cable is coming in from, if using an outdoor antenna. The connector will have a screw-on coaxial connector.
2.Turn off your television, if it is on, and turn it around so its "Antenna In" coaxial port is facing you. Disconnect any cable connected to the "Antenna In" port, if a cable is present.
3.Plug the antenna's coaxial connector into the "Antenna In" port and secure the connector in place by turning it clockwise until the connector stops turning.
4.Plug in the antenna's power cable, extend its VHF dipoles and press the "On" button on the top, side or back of the device to turn on the amplified HDTV antenna. Turn on your television.
5.Press the "Menu" button on your television's remote control or on the television's front panel. Navigate to the "Source," "Antenna/Cable" or similar wording setting to set your TV to receive signals from the amplified HDTV antenna. Use the arrow keys on the remote control or on the front panel to select "Antenna" then press the "OK" or "Enter" button.
6.Use the arrow keys on the remote control or on the television's front panel to select "Scan," "Channel Scan" or similar wording then press the "OK" or "Enter" button. Your television will scan and receive any available channels in your area. Once the scan process is complete, your television will automatically tune to the first available channel.
7.Press the channel "Up" or "Down" arrow under the wording "Channel" on the remote control to tune to the channel you want. Adjust the antenna's "Fine Tuning" or similar wording control to sharpen the channel's picture, if necessary.

10.Plug the antenna's coaxial connector into the "Antenna In" port and secure the connector in place by turning it clockwise until tight. Plug in the antenna's power cable, extend its VHF dipoles and press the "On" button to turn on the amplified HDTV antenna. Turn on your television and digital converter box.
11.Press the "Menu" button on your digital converter box's remote control. Use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Scan," "Channel Scan" or similar wording then press the "OK" or "Enter" button.
