PreSonus Studio One: Track Transform function
Date:2020/3/7 10:29:28 Hits:
Whether you’re looking to free up CPU power, render effects and instruments to cement a part, or to convert a MIDI track to audio in order to share it with others, if you’re a PreSonus Studio One user you’ll want to get familiar with the Track Transform function. Basically, this converts your MIDI instrument track to an audio track, but it has a lot of useful options you should understand.
When you select the Transform to Audio Track command, you get a dialog box with check boxes for options. The first, “Render Inserts,” lets you commit your effects to the track as well as your instrument. If you know you want to transform your instrument to audio, but are still experimenting with effects, leave this unchecked. If you’re done with effects, or you want to print what you have done so far and experiment with other effects, check this box.
The next option, “Preserve Instrument Track State,” is a great way to eat your cake and have it too. Check this box and the original instrument track is maintained as part of your song. This is particularly powerful in tandem with the next check box: “Remove Instrument.” This way you can keep your MIDI data and all of your effects, and remove the instrument so it no longer takes up any resources in your song. If you decide you want to make changes you can then come back to your track and re-instantiate the instrument to pick up where you left off.
Finally, there is the “Auto Tail” button that will automatically detect if the effects on your track trail off after the final region, and extend the transformation to that point. You can also set a “Fixed Tail” if you know exactly how long you want the tail to go.
However you want to render your MIDI instrument track to audio, you’ll find that the PreSonus Track Transform function has you covered!
