New UAD-2 Plug-ins

Universal Audio has released version 7.11 UAD Software, which features demos of four powerful new optional plug-ins for the UAD-2 platform and Apollo family audio interfaces. First up is the Manley Variable Mu Limiter Compressor, a virtual recreation of the legendary tube-based comp/limiter from Manley. Created in close association with Eveanna Manley herself, the Vari-Mu plug-in completely emulates the tonality and response of the hardware Vari-mu.

Two new plug-ins were also introduced from Vertigo Sound: the VSM-3 Mix Satellite, an emulation of the VSM-2 hardware saturation/harmonic generator processor that adds plug-in-only features such as the THD Mixer’s Harmonic Balance control and the ability to run two harmonic generators simultaneously. The VSC-2 Quad Discrete VCA Compressor from Vertigo Sound emulates the tone and response of the hardware VCA compressor, which features four hand-built discrete VCAs, classic tone and response, soft mode for dynamically responsive compression, and Brick mode for use as a limiter.

Finally, the Massenburg Design Works MDSEQ5 is a new version of the popular parametric plug-in EQ that runs on the UAD platform. The IsoPeak function allows easy location of problem frequencies, while maximum fidelity provides zero coloration and distortion for pristine EQ processing. Two versions are included: the 5-band MDWEQ5 and the 3-band MDWEQ3.
