Looking for affordable multiband dynamics processing? Then you’re looking for the just-announced Drawmer 1973 three-band FET stereo compressor! The 1973 uses dual crossovers to feed three separate frequency ranges into three corresponding, independent compression sections. This allows you to compress the bass, midrange, and treble frequencies independently for ultimate sound-shaping control as well as creative re-shaping. Each section can be separately muted or bypassed, and special controls include a “Big” switch in the low-frequency section and an “Air” switch for high-frequency enhancement. The three frequency ranges are combined to form the “wet” or processed signal, which can then be mixed back in with the “dry,” unprocessed signal for parallel compression effects.

The all-analog 1973 makes what could be a complex processor simple, with an easy layout and sensible controls. And best of all, it comes in at an amazingly low price — in fact, you get the 1973’s three bands of processing for the same price as Drawmer’s single-band 1968 stereo tube compressor!
