How to Record to External Hard Drives in Pro Tools

Date:2020/3/5 16:23:05 Hits:

Q: I recently bought a Glyph Studio mini. I thought it would be nice to have it to record on. I am sort new to recording, and I’ve been recording on my laptop’s hard drive. I bought Pro Tools from sweetwater and am enjoying it, but I want to record on my Glyph. So my question is, is there a specific configuration needed to record to the Studio Mini? The manual didn’t say anything about recording to the drive. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

A: When you create a new session in Pro Tools using either the Quick Start window or the New Session command (command+N), a dialog will open asking you to name and save the session. At this point you can save it to whatever drive you like — so you shouldn’t have to do anything to the drive or set anything in Pro Tools in advance. As long as the drive mounts on your computer, you’ll be fine!
