The Joemeek preQ 500 is a 500 Series microphone preamp that’s loaded with features and designed in true Joemeek fashion. Robustly engineered for consistent performance, the preQ 500 uses components of the highest quality that bring out the best in any microphone or instrument. Simple to use, the preQ 500’s full feature set makes it an extremely powerful tool in either a studio or live performance setting.

Clean gain is where the preQ 500 starts and it has 60dB on tap, courtesy of the top-quality Cinemag microphone transformer and low-noise Burr Brown audiophile amplifiers. The gain section of the preQ 500 has a gain control, 48V Phantom Power switch, a switchable 20dB pad, and a polarity-reversal button. Next is an optical de-esser to control excessive sibilance. The de-esser can be switched in or out and it has a rotary control that allows you to dial just the right amount. If the sibilance is in a particularly high frequency range, the “Hi” filter can be engaged at the press of a button. There is also a switchable High Pass Filter that will tame rumble or mic handling noise and is variable from 20Hz to 200Hz. Finally, a high-impedance, 1/4-inch instrument input is mounted on the front panel. Convenient for plugging in a guitar or bass, the 1/4-inch input overrides all of the rear-panel XLR inputs.
