Alpha studio monitors were introduced at Musikmesse 2014 by Focal. The new active monitors are intended for near-field applications and were designed to address common problems in home studios, such as poor acoustics and confined spaces. They’re optimized for styles of music that require neutrality, dynamics, and high sound pressure levels. The Alpha family include Focal’s new Polyglass cone woofer, which provides excellent damping. The speakers use large dual front ports for improved performance when placed against walls or in small spaces. There are three members in the Alpha series:

Alpha 80 — active 2-way, 8-inch low/mid driver driven by 100 watts and a 1-inch inverted aluminum high-frequency driver driven by 40 watts. Controls include high and low EQ and input sensitivity.

Alpha 65 — active 2-way, 6.5-inch low/mid driver driven by 70 watts and a 1-inch inverted aluminum high-frequency driver driven by 35 watts. Controls include high and low EQ and input sensitivity.

Alpha 50 — active 2-way, 5-inch low/mid driver driven by 35 watts and a 1-inch inverted aluminum high-frequency driver driven by 20 watts. Controls include high and low EQ and input sensitivity.
