At the 2013 AES Conference in New York, Rupert Neve returned to his roots, with his company Rupert Neve Designs announcing the Shelford Series. The Shelford series consists of the 5051 Inductor EQ/Compressor and the 5052 mic pre/inductor EQ. Both harken back to Rupert’s designs created during his time in Shelford.

The 5052 brings together a vintage-style, transformer-based preamplifier with modern features, such as RND’s trademark Silk/Texture control and a 3-band equalizer featuring a low-frequency band drawn from the vintage Neve 1064, the mid band from the prized 1073, and a high-frequency band that is a hybrid of the 1073 inductor design and modern capacitor topology.

The 5051 features a linkable VCA compressor similar to that found in the acclaimed Portico II Master Buss Processor along with an inductor-based EQ like that in the 5052.

Both the 5051 and the 5052 are vertical modules in half-rack format; RND’s new 2-way and 4-way vertical racks will accommodate the modules as will the existing 9-way rack and the 5088 console. Either the RND 5-way brick power supply or the RND 25-way 2U rackmount power supply can be used with the 5051 and 5052.
