How Do I Connect My Gallien-Krueger MB200 to My Focusrite Saffire Pro 14?

Date:2020/3/4 16:05:25 Hits:

Q: I have a Gallien-Krueger MB200 compact bass head and I want to connect it to my Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 audio interface. The MB200 has a switchable Headphone/Line Out jack and a Direct Out jack. Which should I use to connect to my interface?

A: Either will work, depending on how you hook them up. The XLR Direct Out can be switched at the amp from pre- or post-EQ, allowing you tone shaping options. Since it is a DI, the signal will come out at microphone level, and should be routed into one of the microphone inputs on your interface.

Or, you could connect the Headphone/Line Out jack, make sure to switch it to position 2 (the line out setting), and route it into one of the line inputs on your Saffire Pro 14.

Either way will work fine. We would probably go with the Direct Out in order to have the extra control that the mic input on the interface provides over level, etc.
