Virtual synthesizers have opened up an amazing world of new possibilities to musicians. Case in point: iZotope’s revolutionary Iris virtual instrument — you’ve never seen (or heard) a synth like this before!
What sets Iris apart is that it can load nearly any sound file. Iris then analyzes the file and provides graphical tools for transforming the sound into something completely new! You want easy? Load a sound, drag your mouse across the screen, and get an entirely new sound! Based on the amazing spectral processing found in iZotope’s RX software, this graphical editing is super powerful — and fun!
The result can range from gentle pads to evolving textures to filter sweeps to hybrid instruments to isolated harmonics to completely new clouds of sound. Iris comes with a 4GB/500-preset library, and you can import any audio file you like. Plus, iZotope has already created two expansion libraries: Glass and Wood. Each contains a wide array of intriguing, inspiring, and useful sounds.
Iris is a powerful, brand-new approach to synthesis, and it has completely won me over. It’s fast, easy, and fun, but don’t assume that makes it a toy. This is a serious synthesis tool anyone can use to create signature sounds.
