Korg Releases M1 as iPad App

Date:2020/2/7 15:11:26 Hits:

The Korg M1 is arguably the synthesizer that began the “keyboard workstation” craze back in 1988. They have kept the M1 alive as a software instrument, which currently comes included with the KORG MicroKEY 25. And now it is available as an iPad app.

The iM1 app includes not only all 19 PCM ROM card sounds from the original M1 and M1EX, but the sounds from its successor, the T-Series, for a total of over 3,300 sounds. The new “Smart Sound Browser” takes advantage of the iPad screen, letting you find the desired type of instrument or tonal character quickly. You can also view the sounds ranked by how often they are selected by iM1 users around the world.

The iM1 also continues the evolution of the M1. Synth parts now have the filter resonance that was requested at the time of the original unit, as well as VDA modulation. The effect parts, originally consisting of only two master effects, have been powered-up to 18 insert effects which include a compressor effect that’s ideal for balancing out the sound. The user interface has also been refreshed with additions such as a new KAOSS pad that allows performance via the iPad’s touchscreen.

The iM1 is available now at the iTunes app store, and is compatible with all iOS and USB keyboard controllers.
