First Look Fender American Performer Series

Date:2020/2/22 16:45:36 Hits:

Fender is taking a fresh look at some of their most popular instruments with the American Performer series for 2018. This line takes the place of the American Special series, and just like that series, American Performer instruments are all crafted in Corona, California. Featuring all-new Yosemite pickups, Fender’s acclaimed Greasebucket tone circuit, and some seriously eye-catching colors, the American Performer lineup puts USA-made Fender quality in the hands of hard-gigging musicians. Let’s take a closer look.

American Performer Stratocaster and Stratocaster HSS

American Performer series Strats are available in two pickup configurations — the classic with Yosemite single-coil pickups, and the HSS with a DoubleTap humbucker in the bridge position. The Yosemite single-coil pickups feature a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle pickup for hum-canceling operation in positions two and four on the 5-way pickup selector. Both configurations also feature the Greasebucket tone circuit on the bridge pickup tone control, which allows you to roll off highs without affecting the tone of your mids and lows. Check out the classic single-coil version here or the HSS version here.

American Performer Telecaster and Telecaster Hum

Like the Strats, Fender gives you two options for the American Performer Telecaster — choose from dual Yosemite Tele single-coil pickups, or a Yosemite single-coil at the bridge and a DoubleTap humbucker at the neck. The humbucker-equipped model features a push-pull tone control that allows you to split the humbucker for single-coil tones. Factor in the jumbo frets and a range of cool colors, and the American Performer Telecaster is sure to please. Check out the SS version here or the HS version here.

American Performer Jazzmaster

It seems that Fender always finds a way to distinguish each new series of Jazzmaster, and the American Performer Jazzmaster is no different. Like all American Performer instruments, you’ll find a vintage-voiced pair of Yosemite single-coil pickups plus the Greasebucket tone circuit. But look closer — instead of the traditional offset vibrato tailpiece, you’ve got a Strat-style synchronized tremolo tailpiece. It’ll give you a wider bending range than the traditional Jazzmaster bridge, while still allowing for classic warbles and flutters if you use a light touch. Check it out in detail here.

American Performer Mustang

The American Performer Mustang gives some love to fans of Fender’s short-scale offset guitars. With its Modern “C” neck profile, 22 jumbo frets, and 24″ scale length, this modern Mustang has playability anyone can appreciate. Available in four sweet colors, all American Performer Mustangs feature the classic plate tremolo tailpiece, newly designed ClassicGear tuners, and a pair of Yosemite Mustang single-coil pickups. Check it out in detail here.

American Performer Jazz Bass

The Jazz Bass is one of the most popular bass guitars in the world, and the American Performer Jazz Bass doesn’t disappoint. A pair of Yosemite single-coil pickups delivers all the midrange growl you expect from a Jazz Bass, and the Greasebucket tone circuit allows you to dial in those muted dub-bass tones without messing with your fundamental tone. And with its Modern “C” neck profile and jumbo frets, the American Performer Jazz Bass perfectly balances vintage style with modern playability. Check it out in detail here.

American Performer Mustang Bass

Bassists looking for a hard-rocking short-scale bass have long turned to the Mustang bass. Its easy-playing 30″ scale length features 19 jumbo frets and a 9.5″ fretboard radius. And the American Performer Mustang Bass offers a unique pickup combination — a Yosemite Jazz Bass single-coil pickup at the bridge position and a Yosemite Mustang Bass split single-coil pickup in the middle position. It’s like a short-scale P/J bass, with independent volume controls to blend the two pickups however you like — very cool. Check it out in detail here.

American Performer Precision Bass

The Precision Bass remains the go-to rock bass for many players. And with the American Performer Precision Bass, you’ll see why it fits so well into other genres too. In addition to the Yosemite split single-coil P Bass pickup in the middle position, it packs a Yosemite Jazz Bass single-coil pickup at the bridge. Individual volume controls allow you to find your ideal blend of the two pickups, while the Greasebucket tone circuit allows you to dial back highs without muddying your lows. Bassists expect excellence when they pick up a P Bass, and the American Performer Precision Bass won’t disappoint. Check it out in detail here.
