The CME Xkey is a portable solution for making music on your laptop or tablet. This 25-key, ultra-slim profile, controller is not a toy by any stretch. This is a true keyboard featuring full-size keys in a precision-cut aluminum chassis that provide comfortable separation and natural feel, including slightly elevated black keys, plus full controller functions.
The Xkey owes its diminutive size and excellent response to its “chicklet” key mechanism. This allows for even response no matter where you touch the keys and it offers the fast response of a traditional synth action. Advanced sensing technology provides 128 levels of velocity sensitivity and full polyphonic aftertouch. The fact that it is only .14″ tall (yes all of the numbers are on the right side of the decimal point) 15.27″ wide and 5.31″ deep means that it is small enough to fit in a briefcase, backpack, laptop bag, or midsize iPad case. At 1.32lbs, the Xkey is just heavy enough to stay put when you play but light enough to barely notice that you’re carrying it with you. The other controller functions include pitch bend, modulation, sustain, and octave up and octave down, which truly puts this tiny keyboard into the “real” category.
The CME Xkey connects through USB and is compatible with Mac, Windows, tablets, and iOS via the Apple Camera Connection Kit. It is also bus-powered so there is no need for batteries, adapters, or extra cables making it super-easy to start making music right away.
