Q: I’m trying to use MIDI CC#7 to control volume on my B3 organ virtual instrument, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Everything else works fine. Any suggestions?

A: You have stumbled across one of the quirks of some MIDI’d organs. Here’s the deal: the pedal on an organ is called the “expression” pedal, and is used to control the volume. Because of this, when many virtual organ programmers create their models, they use MIDI CC#11 — expression — to set the volume level.
