How to Connect a TV Antenna and Cable to a Television
By Nick Davis
Things You'll Need
-Splitter
-Coaxial cable, 2 feet
Unplug your television and turn the set around so the back of the set is facing you.
Disconnect the antenna or cable connection from the television's “VHF,” “Antenna In” or similarly worded port if it is connected.
Examine your splitter and notice one end of the device has a coaxial port while the other end has two coaxial ports.
Plug the coaxial cable coming from the cable television connection outlet into the second coaxial port on the splitter. Use the port next to the one you used to plug the television antenna into.
Place one end of a 2 foot piece of coaxial cable into the single coaxial port on the splitter.
Plug the other end of the 2 foot piece of coaxial cable into your television's “VHF,” “Antenna In” or similarly worded port.
Plug in the television set and turn it around so the screen is facing you.
Use your television's remote control to access the “Menu,” “Setup” or similarly worded function. Or press the "Menu" or "Setup" button on the front of the television.
Select the “Channel Setup” or similarly worded function. Set the Input to “Cable” and perform an “Auto Scan” to locate all available cable television channels.
Select the “Channel Setup” or similarly worded function, then set the input to “Antenna” and perform an “Auto Scan” to locate all available broadcast channels. Your television will locate both broadcast and cable television channels.
Tips & Warnings
-If the broadcast channels (TV antenna channels) are not clear, adjust your television antenna.
