How to Connect a DirecTV HD Receiver to a TV

Date:2015/9/3 17:27:19 Hits:
DirecTV is one of the main satellite companies offering television programming to millions of customers around the country. DirecTV has various receivers to choose from, but those who have HD (high definition) TVs need a DirecTV HD receiver to watch HD broadcasts or otherwise the signal (picture) will not be seen in high definition. Decide from two of the best methods of connecting a DirecTV HD receiver to a high definition TV—either a high quality or a good quality connection.

Things You'll Need

•RG-6 coaxial cable

•HDMI cable
•RCA component video cable (red/blue/green) (optional)

•RCA audio cable (red/white) (optional)

Instructions

1.Connect a RG-6 coaxial cable to the satellite outlet on the wall jack. Connect the other end of this cable to the “Sat IN” on the back of the DirecTV HD receiver.

2.For the highest quality hookup, connect a HDMI cable to the back of the DirecTV receiver in the HDMI jack. Connect the other end of the cable to the back of the HD television in the HDMI jack. This connection requires a HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) cable that transmits both video and audio.

3.If you do not have a HDMI cable, use a video (red/blue/green) and audio (red/white) RCA cable. Connect a RCA component video cable to the back of the DirecTV HD receiver component OUT jacks. Match the colors of the cable connectors with the jacks on the receiver (red/red, green/green and blue/blue).

4.Connect the other ends of the RCA component video cable to the back of the high definition television component IN jacks. Put the corresponding colored connectors with its matching jack colors (red/red, green/green and blue/blue) on the television.

5.Connect a RCA audio cable (red/white) to the back of the DirecTV HD receiver in the audio OUT jacks. Match the colors of the connectors with the jacks (red/red and white/white)

6.Connect the other end of the RCA audio cable (red/white) to the back of the HD television using the audio IN jacks. Match the colors of the connectors as previously described.
