How to Build Your Own UHF TV Antenna

Date:2014/8/7 9:59:23 Hits:

Things You'll Need

  •     Wooden dowel, 1/2 inch thickness
  •     Saw
  •     Copper pipe, 1/2 inch inside diameter
  •     Drill with 1/8-inch bit
  •     1/4-inch woodscrews
  •     Screwdriver
  •     300- to 75-ohm transformer
  •     Coaxial cable with F-type connectors
Instructions

1.Cut a three-foot length of 1/2 inch wooden dowel rod.

2.Cut two 17-inch long pieces of 1/2-inch inside diameter copper pipe.

3.Slide the copper pipes over the dowel and position them, so they're separated in the middle by one inch.

4.Drill a 1/8-inch hole at the end of each pipe nearest the center of the dowel. Screw a 1/4-inch wood screw into the hole so it secures the pipe firmly to the dowel rod inside the pipe. Don't screw the screw head all the way tight onto the pipe yet.

5.Slide the two tabs of a 300 to 75 ohm transformer under the screw head--one per screw--and tighten the screws to hold the tabs in place.

6.Plug one end of a RG-6 coaxial cable with F-type connectors on both ends into the other end of the transformer. Plug the other end of the cable into the antenna input of your television.

7.Position or suspend the antenna in a location that gives you the best reception.
